Todd
Jones is a 6’3” 240 lb. closer for the Florida Marlins. A closer is a pitcher that
comes into the game in the last inning only when the Marlins are winning. He is 37 years old, married to
Michele and has two kids, Alex, age 10 and Abby, age 8. He was real easy to talk to. Right
from the start he took us inside so it would be cooler and quieter for us to talk.
ARE
YOU SCARED OF BEING HIT BY A BASEBALL?
Yes, but it’s like being struck by lightening.
There’s nothing you can do about it so you try not to worry about it but it does come into your mind a lot.
WHAT
WAS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT AS A KID?
I was playing varsity basketball in tenth grade
and I shot in the wrong basket and scored two points for the other team. It doesn’t get much worse
than that.
IS IT HARD MOVING YOUR FAMILY EVERY TIME YOU GET TRADED?
My
wife and I have been married 16 years and we’ve moved 28 times. We first started out with everything
in a U-Haul and now we have it in our Suburban. We’ve learned how to downsize and take the important things.
